What are they?
University micro-credentials are official certificates that attest to the acquisition of specific knowledge, skills, or competencies through short-term, flexible training programs adapted to the needs of today's labor market. They are specifically aimed at adults, whether currently employed or in the process of a professional transition, allowing them to upskill, reskill, or complement previous studies without the need to complete a full bachelor's or master's degree.
Among the main advantages of micro-credentials, key highlights include their flexibility (with in-person, online, or hybrid options), a tailored duration (between 1 and 15 ECTS credits), and official recognition by the university system. This model promotes lifelong learning and responds to the demands of economic sectors in transformation, especially in fields such as digitalization, sustainability, healthcare, or business management.
